Whether you are new to town or have lived in Shreveport all your life it is sometimes hard get involved and put yourself out there. One thing to try that will get you out there is by going to the Farmers Market. In Shreveport there a number of farmers markets that happen here. The first is the Shreveport Farmers Market, which has been around from over 25 years. The market happens every Tuesday and Saturday until until the end of August and then from October to November it happens only on Saturdays. Every Saturday at the farmers market there is live music for you to enjoy. The other farmers market is the South Highlands Summer Market. On Fridays in June, July, and August this market is open to share amazing food and music to the public. This market features around 20 of the best chefs, artists, and gardeners. There is also acoustic music from local artists. These farmer markets are a great way to get fresh food and hang out with the locals.
Another great way to stay social in Shreveport is by going to the Highland Open Studio tours. This happens every first Sunday of the month. Each month features new artists and locations. There is plenty to look at with the art, music, and food.
There is also the Shreveport Artists’ Market. This happens every week in the Red River District. There is everything from jewelry to furniture, there is even an area where young entrepreneurs from the ages of 8-16 come and sell their work.
If you do not feel like going out to a festival and exploring then hang out with your friends at some of these cool places.
At Holiday Lanes there is a intergalactic glow-in-the-dark bowling. This happens every Friday and Saturday. On Fridays it is from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. and on Saturdays it is from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. To participate you will need to have 3-5 friends come with you. With strobe lights, music, and dancing this is going to be a great time for you and your friends.
If bowling is not your scene then try a brewery tours. At Great Raft Brewing there are free tours that happen on Saturdays from 1 to 3. They about 30 minutes long and do not require any payment. Great Raft has a tasting room the is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There is always a food truck on site for some great eats and you can go to its Facebook page to see what food will be there.
